How you will make an impact:
As the Infection Preventionist at Lutheran Home, you will lead the Infection Prevention and Control Program for our community, playing a critical role in resident and team member health and safety. You will oversee infection control policies, procedures, surveillance, reporting, and education, ensuring our practices meet all regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with internal teams, clinical leaders, and public health partners to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Your work will directly support our mission of empowering vibrant, grace-filled living across all generations.
This role also includes leading employee health programs, providing training, conducting rounds, analyzing infection trends, mentoring nursing staff, and coordinating with external health departments and regulatory organizations. You will serve as a clinical resource, educator, and champion of best practices in infection prevention.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a typical Monday–Friday schedule. Some flexibility may be needed for trainings, audits, or emergent infection prevention needs.
What you will need:
- Current Illinois RN license
- Minimum 1 year of related experience serving as a Infection Preventionist
- 2–4 years of teaching or training experience
- Experience in geriatrics
- Completion of APIC Fundamentals of Surveillance, Prevention, and Control preferred
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and write reports
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members at all levels
