The Lutheran Home, part of a faith-based, mission-driven organization, is seeking an Assistant Director of Environmental Services (EVS) to help lead our Environmental Services team and ensure a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for residents, families, visitors, and staff.

This leadership role supports the Building Services Director in overseeing housekeeping, laundry, floor care, infection prevention initiatives, and regulatory compliance. What You'll Do

  • Assist in managing daily Environmental Services operations, including housekeeping, laundry, and floor care services
  • Supervise Environmental Services staff and coordinate daily staffing assignments
  • Conduct routine inspections of resident rooms, common areas, offices, and support spaces
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance standards are maintained throughout the community
  • Monitor inventory and order housekeeping supplies, chemicals, and equipment
  • Support infection prevention and control initiatives through proper cleaning and disinfection practices
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing team members
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts including CMS, IDPH, OSHA, CDC, and EPA requirements
  • Participate in survey preparation, quality assurance audits, and corrective action planning
  • Respond to environmental concerns and help resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Assist with emergency preparedness planning and facility response efforts
  • Serve as acting department leader in the absence of the Building Services Director

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years of Environmental Services, Housekeeping, Custodial Services, or related experience required
  • Healthcare, skilled nursing, senior living, rehabilitation, hospital, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards, infection prevention practices, and environmental services operations
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic systems
  • Ability to participate in after-hours emergency response as needed
